Week 28: Casting the Basement Transfer Slab

The last couple of weeks have been slow due to weather and a couple of design related issues. Nevertheless, the groundwork team finished the preparation to transfer the basement slab last week.

This includes putting the relevant piles that will support the steel frames that will go up to support the barn structure that cantilevers over the pavilion (kitchen/diner/utility room). See the images below.

Finally on Wednesday the 26th of February, the team poured the concrete to form the slab for the barn structure. The transfer slab for the rest of the ground floor, essentially, the kitchen/diner/utility room will be poured in the next couple of weeks.

Over the next four weeks, we’ll allow time for the transfer slab to cure/dry. The temporary form-works to support groundwork will be removed and we will commence the installation of the steelwork and the installation of the SIP panels.

Basically, by the end of March, most of the superstructure should be finished.

Here are some photos from the last couple of weeks.
