Week 18: Drainage and Ducting of the Basement

The team has had a busy week putting in all the relevant drainage pipes and ducting according to the design. Some of it will be used by a ground pump or whatever they call it to prevent or mitigate any water ingress.

Basically, they are getting the basement ready for casting the concrete on the floor of the basement as well as concrete blinding to the wall of the basement before installing the Sika waterproof membrane.

Given the amount of rain we’ve had recently, it’s being a good test to see if the retaining wall performs its function as a reverse swimming pool to keep the water out. Needless, to say it has passed in flying colours so far. Well done team. I’m glad we’re doing this during the wet season to be honest as how could we prove the piles work otherwise?

Here are some photos below from the last few days. Amazing how much has been done.
