Thanks to Patrick Young of AbleUSA for prodding me. We moved into Dianthus last year after a long hard slog filled with a lot of drama along the way for all involved. We’ve had it all. first builder going bust, pandemic, inflation, budget overrun, bereavement you name it, we’ve had it.
We came through it stronger as a family. We’re very grateful and one song by Above and Beyond, Gratitude sums up how we feel.
Anyhow, I wanted to share a few photos from our home. These were taken over the last few months. I’m not going to do a chapter and verse walk through of the house yet as we’re still working on the landscaping. So I’ll do a proper one when we’re done with landscaping in the spring.
The photos below show my son’s bedroom. We designed it with our architect Rob Jackson as a sensory bedroom with the support of the council’s occupational therapists who selected the hoist and his wet room chair. We appreciate their support The bed, we’ve had for a few years. I spotted it at a disability show and purchased it.

The hoist is ceiling mounted with support on either side of the wall. The wet room has R13 slip rating tiles which is best for Wet Rooms. The pendant lighting in the bedroom we purchased from Luke Roberts lighting on Kickstarter years ago. You can change the colour, intensity and direction of light of the pendant lighting from an App to make the room feel like a sensory room.
We also put coloured transparencies on the asymmetric windows as well. He loves it, 🥰
