Gabled Juliet balcony cladding and more finishing

I promised Pete I was going to post some photos today. Pete is one of our carpenters from Bentley. Pete and the rest of the lads have been working on the cladding, doors, skirting, SIP you name it throughout out our build. They’ve been amazing and take pride in the quality of their finishing.

They’ve recently finished cladding the Juliet balcony which sits in front of our master bedroom. It looks so much better than the sketches and we absolutely love it. We always put more store in the views than the bedroom itself to be honest. Sleeping is so overrated.

In terms of finishing, the Juliet balcony has a overhang which has been cladded with the Savernake oak like the rest of the building, we will have a timber deck to walk on from local company SB Joinery at Danebury Ring, we’re also going to have two benches on either side that gives us the space to work on the balcony.

We’ll have a Wi-Fi access point their and lighting. It’s such as amazing space as our bedroom faces the meadow and to the left of it the gorgeous ash tree sits in the garden gracefully towering over everything. I’m a bit stressed though, we’ve spotted some die back on our ash tree. It breaks my heart but we have to be prepared for a future without it. Hence, the planting of more trees in the meadow. The oak in the middle of the meadow is just coming into it’s own. I’m presuming in 15 years time, it will be as big as the ash tree.

In the meantime, we will do everything we can to keep the ash tree for as long as possible working with our landscapers and Arboricultural consultant.

So, Pete, here are the photos, once the scaffolding goes down in the next couple of weeks, I’ll take some more. Oh by the way, the sausages arrived last night delivered by the farmer so will be serving up some sausages for you boys next week.

I’ll follow up with more posts now on where we are.

Here are photos of the gable balcony.
