It has being a busy month. The supply chain hasn’t been kind to us. Our doors were severely late in delivery due to shortage of timber. This impacted the tacking and plastering to close things off. The doors have now being delivered and installed but nailing down the plasterers is like chasing Scarlet Pimpernel. It’s a right royal pain talking to other folks building in the same position. The pandemic and Brexit seems to be the common excuse. Who knows the truth. This has cost us time and incurred painful delays. We’re coping as best as we can.
In any case, most of the groundwork to connect services is complete, the cladding is almost complete including the pointing. The oak looks amazing.
Here is a summary of where we are.
- Cladding almost complete, this is a painstaking process to put insulation membrane on the counter batten on top before the cladding goes on, The flint pointing is almost done as well, The flint looks gorgeous. We get a lot of people stop us to say how much they love the flint rendering and the oak cladding. The guys have done a fantastic job!
- Doors installed to all rooms, mostly pocket doors from Enigma, they’re awesome!
- The tacking, plastering, acoustic treatment, speakers and painting of the living, kitchen diner and utility is complete,
- The kitchen, lounge and utility has been manufactured offsite and the installation starts this week, They’re chomping at the bit to show it off. It looks absolutely amazing. I will not spoil their surprise as they’re going to guest write up about it on this blog,
- Tacking and plastering is progressing in the rest of the house,
- Bathroom installation in progress,
- Three phase meter now active as three phase connection has been activated by SSEN,
- The mechanical components in the plant room have mostly been installed, just awaiting testing of ground source heat pump in the next week or so. The Solar Roof inverters, Mechanical Ventilation and Heating Recovery unit, hard water treatment, sump pump and the connections to hot water and cold water tanks have been completed.
- The only thing we will not have installed when we move in is the Tesla Powerwalls there is a huge backlog so we will not get them until early next year,
- The landscape contractor Charlie’s Garden have started some ground prep in areas where they can work,
- Finally, the swimming pool groundwork is almost completed, The pool itself will arrive in the next couple of weeks.
Without further ado, here are the photos and videos from the last month. Enjoy the Hot air ballon videos as well as photos of Theo on the excavator! I’m so sorry I was super excited like a little boy in a toy store with the commentary. It is one of the most spoiling things to do. More importantly, just being close to nature the gorgeous River Test is way too spoiling. We are blessed 🥰
